Do you yearn to have a beautiful smile full of straight, white teeth but don’t want to deal with the stigma that comes with adult braces? If so, consider joining the millions of Americans who are correcting their teeth alignment issues with Invisalign aligners.
Innovations in orthodontic treatment have led to the exploding popularity of Invisalign and other plastic aligners. These aligners straighten your teeth and do everything else traditional metal braces do without the unsightly wires and plastic pieces. They’re also far more comfortable than traditional braces since they straighten your teeth more gradually.

What Is Invisalign and How Does It Work?
Invisalign is a removable, comfortable, and inconspicuous orthodontic solution that has seen massive popularity in recent years, especially among adults and older teens. Invisalign treatment takes a similar approach to a retainer in straightening teeth and correcting misalignments through removable plastic trays that you wear over your teeth.
This transparent treatment option possesses two primary advantages: first, Invisalign is almost invisible while wearing (hence the name); and second, it allows for easy tooth and gum care since you can take the entire appliance off for cleaning. When it comes time to brush and floss, simply slip your Invisalign aligners off and continue your normal cleaning routine.
Invisalign clear aligners use sophisticated alignment technology that custom-designs your treatment plan with a 3D computer scan of your teeth. After the aligners are made, you’ll receive one set of aligners at a time, which are specially fitted to your smile.
The Invisalign system only requires minimal changes to your normal tooth care process. Of course, keeping your Invisalign clear aligners clean and debris-free should become a part of your daily routine, just like regular brushing and flossing. Make sure to keep your aligners somewhere safe where you won’t lose them when not in use, too.
The effectiveness of Invisalign relies on you. You must wear Invisalign aligners for at least 22 hours each day for the system to work as intended. Since they are designed for comfort, you should not have too much trouble keeping them on, but it’s always a good idea to brush your teeth after meals (and before putting your liners back on).

What Does the Invisalign Bonding Process Look Like?
When considering your options for orthodontic treatment, Dr. Timin will review your initial orthodontic condition to evaluate Invisalign as a potential solution. If you get the green light to use Invisalign, Dr. Timin and her team will set up appointments to get your aligner treatment customized for you.
Once your aligners come in, you will wear them in a progressive set. In the beginning, you will wear the initial aligner and will then switch to new aligners every few weeks to help your teeth make a gradual transition to proper alignment.
During the first few days or weeks of treatment and when moving to the next tray in a set, you may experience some discomfort as your mouth adjusts to the Invisalign process. However, if you adhere to proper usage guidelines, any discomfort you experience will be kept to a minimum.
In most cases, patients wear a total of 18 to 30 aligners over the treatment period, which is typically 12 to 24 months long. However, if you feel like your smile isn’t quite ready, don’t worry – the treatment always progresses until you feel satisfied with the straightness of your smile.

Throughout your treatment, Dr. Timin will set up regular appointments to keep track of your progress. She will also use these opportunities to evaluate your oral health, make sure you do not have problematic buildups on your teeth, and check to see that your teeth are adjusting properly.
Once the Invisalign process is complete, you’ll receive a set of clear retainers that you should treat just like you would a typical retainer. You’ll only need to wear these a few days a week to keep your teeth from shifting back to their previous positions, and many patients choose to wear their retainers at night to make it as painless as possible.
Straighten your teeth without feeling like you need to hide your smile. Dr. Timin and her team are always available to answer your questions regarding your orthodontic treatment options.
